
Deana Tuell, RN, BSOM, OCN
Deana has been the Manager of the Columbus Regional Hospital Breast Health Center since October 2000, when the newly designed facility opened on the campus of Columbus Regional Hospital. An advocate for women's health for over twenty-five years, Deana has specializations in cancer and breast health. In addition to being an Oncology Certified Nurse, she is an EduCare Breast Health Specialist and Advanced Nurse Navigator. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management.
Under Deana’s leadership, the Breast Health Center was the first hospital in the area to offer a Breast Health Navigator Program. In 2003, the Center was the winner of the national Sodexho, Health Care Services, Spirit of Excellence Award, where Deana was recognized for significant contribution to the Breast Health Center Team. In 2007 the Center became the first healthcare provider in southeastern Indiana to provide digital mammography technology and also to offer Mammosite targeted five-day radiation therapy balloon catheter insertion. Most recently Deana was presented with the Uncle Sam Financial Recovery Award for her help in restoring the Breast Health Center after the 2008 catastrophic flood in southern Indiana.
In addition to contributions to several professional publications on breast cancer and numerous community presentations, Deana received the Indiana Community Cancer Care "Ten Years of Excellence" Award and the American Cancer Society's Commendation for "Fight Against Cancer." She is a member of the National Oncology Nursing Society and the National Consortium of Breast Centers, Inc. and was a speaker at the National Consortium of Breast Centers annual meeting and the Susan G. Komen Mission conference.
A life-long Columbus resident, Deana is married to husband Tim, also a life-long resident. They have two children, and a granddaughter. Their daughter is currently in nursing school at University of Indianapolis.
