Dr. Shedd attained his Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1986. Dr. Shedd performed his general surgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, completing the program in 1991, when he was named Chief Resident of the Year. He has practiced at Southern Indiana Surgery since 1991 in the areas of general and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Shedd is a member of the Brown-Bartholomew County Medical Association, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in addition to being a member of the Indiana and American Medical Associations. Dr. Shedd currently serves as the chief of staff at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was instrumental in bringing national quality measuring tools to evaluate surgical outcomes at Columbus Regional Hospital. Dr. Shedd was actively involved in the development of the Breast Center and serves as the Center’s director. He is married to Dr. Philippa Shedd, who practices family medicine at Columbus Medical.
