Dr. Dorenbusch is a native of Columbus and a graduate of Columbus North High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1985 and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Indiana University in 1986. He received his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1990. He went on to residency training at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis from 1990 to 1995. During his surgical training, he was twice awarded the prestigious Willis D. Gatch Research Award. He returned to Columbus to join Southern Indiana Surgery in 1995. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Dorenbusch is president of Multi-County Physicians, an association of 400 physicians in a five-county area. He is chairman of the board of the Columbus Surgery Center. Dr. Dorenbusch is also founding president and CEO of Innovative Physician Solutions, a malpractice insurance company. He and his wife, Susan, a practicing gynecologist, have three sons.
